The Rare Malts Selection is a historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that were released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005 to showcase some of the hidden treasures in their portfolio. This Rosebank is even rarer by virtue of being both a Lowland malt and from a distillery that ceased production in 1993. This 20 year old Rosebank Lowland malt was distilled in 1979 at the Rosebank distillery and bottled in October 1999 at a natural cask strength 60.3% ABV. On tasting, very dry, flowrey aromas soon reveal the big soft meadow-flower flavours of a delicious, firm, silky bodied malt with a very long, sweetly dry finish. Michael Jackson described the whisky as the finest example of a Lowland malt and considered the closure of the distillery a great loss. Jim Murray maintains that Rosebank is the superior Lowlander and should be ranked in the top five of all Scottish malts. A great and limited rare single malt whisky from Rosebank.
